- I'm having problems with a hard drive for my A1200. I'm not sure whether
- the drive is bad or whether it is incompatible with my machine. I got it
- from a guy using an A500 and WB2.0 I think. Anyway I can't partition it.
- 3 software programs (prep software from ICD and MicroBotics as well as
- the Commodore Install Disk) I've tried don't even recognize any drive
- present. Dataflyer DF-Prep does recognize something there but it too
- fails to get it to work. This is what it displayed (from my memory)
-
- SCSI
- Unit 0 ------------------------------------
- Unit 1 {-IDE-} Quantum Go40 (or something close)
- Unit 2 ------------------------------------
- Unit 3 ------------------------------------
- Unit 4 ------------------------------------
- Unit 5 ------------------------------------

- When I try to install Unit 1 is says that it has verified partition data
- and is trying to write the Rigid Disk Block but it sat there FOREVER
- (probably 12 minutes or better) and wasn't finished. Why can't I
- repartition the drive? And while I'm thinking about it, is SCSI.Device
- stored on disk or in ROM cause I've looked all over my ORIGINAL workbench
- 3.0 disks and on the Commodore Install disk and it isn't there. Do I even
- need it though? To the best of my knowledge the system itself is good, as
- well as the 44pin cable and connections. It is physically installed
- properly because every other configuration I've tried would not allow the
- A1200 to boot. ANY information at all with be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
